The Floreo Manifesto

On August 30th, 2020, in the midst of the widespread COVID-19 virus which completely shifted the world, our team gathered to discuss our approach to learning which has always been central to our business.

We discussed our values and core tenets in creating spaces of education for the community that prioritize our collective empowerment especially in the context of the global monopoly of the tech industry.

COST

ELIGIBILITY

Whereas many tech organizations center a culture of “Move fast and break things,”

we choose to prioritize deeper, more conscious processes to guide our work

and ensure that we’re not perpetuating the systems holding our communities back.

Rather than be passive learners, designers or users,

we are raising people actively committed to creating a more just society.

We are building a community where people can

share ideas and the wealth that comes from developing them.

We create with intention and work with history in mind, forming spaces where people can grow and learn free of the shame of failure and making mistakes.

We are collectively unlearning our own limiting beliefs rooted in systemic oppression, ridding our spaces of toxicity and recognizing our shared power.

We encourage risk-taking, invention, failure and iteration, and promote wellbeing and honesty in the process of connected learning.

We are producing the skills to be future ready by not just teaching a set of technical skills, but a platform for creative expression, identity formation and a catalyst for becoming an agent of larger social change.

In order to create an environment where everyone can flourish,

we prioritize redefining our approach to:

PERSONAL

WELLBEING

Always be driven by a love ethic.

COMMUNITY

WELLBEING

Continue to work with unity in mind.

CREATIVITY

Center history, empathy and moral imagination.
